Why we started BidProof

You make the decision. We help you see what you’re signing.

A solar proposal is produced by a system: design tools, pricing models, commission structures, and sales processes. Our team has worked inside those systems, building the tools, setting prices, writing warranties, and running installation operations.

We know where a proposal’s numbers come from and how difficult they can be for a homeowner to check. BidProof gives you an independent read on the offer and questions to take back to the seller.

BidProof is paid by homeowners and answerable to them. No commissions, no referrals, no installer money. That independence is the point.

Meet our team

We built the design, pricing, operations, and software systems behind solar proposals. Now we use that experience to help homeowners read them.

Founders

01 — Leadership & direction
Portrait of Ethan Miller

Co-founder

Ethan Miller

What Ethan brings to your bid

He knows how first-year proposal assumptions hold up after years of real-world performance and service.

Experience

Ethan has worked in solar since 2001 and has seen the full arc of the promise, from the sale to years of performance, service, and warranty. At Sunrun, he helped scale operations through its $1.7B IPO, leading installation, warranty, service, and quality across more than 50 offices. He later led Powur as president and COO, served at SunPower, and spent more than a decade at REC Solar. He holds a mechanical engineering degree from Cal Poly.

Portrait of Antonio Cintra

Co-founder

Antonio Cintra

What Antonio brings to your bid

He knows what equipment costs, how project economics work, and which assumptions deserve a second look.

Experience

Antonio has spent more than a decade leading the economics of solar and storage. He held VP roles in supply chain and new homes at Sunrun, led distributor AEE Solar and manufacturer AEROCOMPACT, and became president of Purelight Power after serving as its chief restructuring officer. Before solar, he led global business units at UTC Fire & Security and Philips. He holds an economics degree from York University and completed Columbia Business School’s Senior Executive Program.

02 — Expertise & execution
Portrait of Chris Bunch

Design and engineering

Chris Bunch

What Chris brings to your bid

He knows where production estimates come from and which design assumptions can move them.

Experience

Chris has spent nearly 20 years designing solar systems. He started at REC Solar as a design engineer, led regional engineering, and spent more than seven years at Sunrun as Director of PV Engineering, overseeing design from initial layout through inspection. He later led design engineering at SunPower and design and engineering at Powur. Chris holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from CU Boulder.

Portrait of Kat Love

Operations and process

Kat Love

What Kat brings to your bid

She knows what lenders and third-party ownership providers verify before releasing funds, and what to check before you sign.

Experience

Kat knows how the price on a solar proposal gets built. At REC Solar and Sunrun, she helped lead company-wide systems rollouts, stood up CRM tools, designed product pricing and sales-commission structures, and built forecasting tools across more than 25 departments. She holds a business degree from UC Berkeley’s Haas School and has led the teams that manage proposal changes and re-quotes.

Portrait of Justin Boucher

Software engineering

Justin Boucher

What Justin brings to your bid

He leads BidProof’s software and architecture, with a standard that every report should make sense at a kitchen table.

Experience

Justin has worked inside software that produces solar proposals. He has more than 15 years of experience building backend and frontend systems, including several years at Powur working on the residential-solar proposal platform. Earlier, at MMG Insurance, he architected full-stack systems and led UX standards and code review. He holds a computer information systems degree and a Nielsen Norman Group UX certificate.

Portrait of Josh Hoeg

Marketing and growth

Josh Hoeg

What Josh brings to your bid

He leads BidProof’s marketing with one rule: we do not use a tactic on homeowners that we would not want used on us.

Experience

Josh spent six years growing a residential solar company, advancing from advertising to Marketing Director and VP of Marketing at Purelight Power. He led acquisition across more than eight platforms, held a 25x return on ad spend, and scaled lead generation by more than 1,200%. He is a software engineer and founded Airia Creative in 2016, building more than 50 websites and 30 brand kits.

A fair question

Why pay for BidProof when AI tools are free?

See how our review works

General AI can help explain a solar proposal. A reliable review also depends on knowing what to ask and checking the details against relevant solar, utility, equipment, and contract information.

BidProof brings that solar-specific framework together in one consistent review. We explain what the available information supports in plain language and give you questions to take back to your installer. If a bid needs a closer look, a human reviewer can step in.
