What the contract review adds
The proposal is the sales story. The contract is the commitment. Bid + Contract Review checks whether those two documents agree on system, price, and terms, and flags material clauses that are easy to miss: equipment “or equivalent” language, payment timing, cancellation, change orders, and end-of-term options on a lease or power purchase agreement.
The contract details we look for
- Whether the contract you are being asked to sign matches the proposal we reviewed: same system, same price, same terms.
- Whether your panels, inverter, and battery are named by brand and model, and whether the contract lets the installer swap in “or equivalent” equipment later.
- Whether the contractor of record and license number are on the document, and whether they match the company that sold you the system.
- Your right to cancel: whether the notice is there, and the period the contract itself states. If you have already signed, that sits at the top of your report.
- When each payment comes due, and whether the final payment waits until the system is switched on and approved.
- Who pays when the job hits surprises: permits, interconnection, change orders, and site conditions.
- Whether a production guarantee states what happens if the system produces less energy than promised.
- Whether arbitration and class-action waiver clauses are disclosed — how disputes would be handled, without a legal opinion on the terms.
- What happens when you sell your home or end a lease or power purchase agreement: transfer, early buyout, renewal, and removal costs.
- Whether cancellation fees are stated and the document identifies subcontractors or who is responsible for their work.
- Whether monitoring costs after a free period are disclosed, and whether the contract references how monitoring data is used.
What it is not
BidProof is not a law firm. We do not represent you, interpret case law, or tell you whether to sign. If you need counsel, hire counsel. Our job is to make the document readable before that decision.
Turnaround
Automated reviews are completed instantly. If your bid needs a human review, expect your report within 2 business days, usually sooner.
Documents
Send your solar proposal for Bid Review. For Bid + Contract Review, include the contract you would sign and the proposal so we can compare them. If you only have the contract, we explain what we could not compare without the proposal. PDFs, photos, and screenshots are fine. An electricity bill is optional but recommended. Upload one recent bill, including its 12-month usage history if shown, to help us check the proposal against your electricity use.
